Mushin in School

Judo in schools

At Mushin Judo, we deliver fun, structured, and high-quality judo classes in primary schools across the South West. Our school programmes are designed to help children grow in confidence, coordination, and resilience while learning the values of respect, discipline, and teamwork in a safe and supportive environment.

All sessions are led by fully qualified, DBS-checked coaches and follow nationally recognised standards. Whether your child is new to sport or already active, judo offers an inclusive activity that helps children develop both physically and personally.

Starting with a free taster

Every school we work with begins with free in-school judo taster sessions, giving children the chance to experience judo in a fun and engaging way.

On taster days, children will:

  • Take part in judo games and movement activities

  • Learn simple, age-appropriate techniques

  • Work on teamwork, listening, and confidence

At the end of the session, every child is rewarded with a certificate, which includes a QR code for parents to scan to find out more about Mushin Judo and how to book onto our school classes.

Structured classes and gradings

Our weekly school judo classes run in term-time blocks and are carefully structured to suit each age group. Sessions focus on:

  • Balance, coordination, and agility

  • Safe falling and movement skills

  • Basic judo techniques

  • Confidence, respect, and positive behaviour

Children who attend regularly will have the opportunity to take part in official judo gradings, following the British Judo Association grading syllabus, allowing them to work towards recognised judo grades and celebrate their progress.
