Chris Hunt Skelley - MBE
3rd Dan, UKCC Level 2
Chris Hunt Skelley MBE is one of Great Britain’s most accomplished Paralympic judoka, known for his resilience, skill, and inspirational journey in sport.
After his eyesight began to deteriorate as a teenager, he was later diagnosed with oculocutaneous albinism, a condition that left him visually impaired. Rather than stepping away from sport, he chose to focus fully on judo, moving to the British Judo National Training Centre in Walsall to train full time.
Chris has achieved remarkable success on the international stage. He became Paralympic Champion, winning gold in the ‑100 kg category at Tokyo 2020, and later added a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics competing in the +90 kg division. Along the way he has been ranked world number 1, won European and World Championship medals, and been celebrated as one of the top visually impaired judoka in the world.
